Celtin Chain
On the left you can see Melanie's firts tattoo,it's around her right bicep.
This tattoo means: Allegiance to your tribe. |
Chinese/Japanese Characters and the Celtic Cross
On the right you see two tatoos who are on Melanie's right shoulder. These characters mean Woman and Strenght.
You can also see the Celtic Cross, this tatoo is on Mel's left arm. This tattoo is for protection.

Tibetan Characters
On the left you see the most recent tattoos she got. They were made in Amsterdam at the day of her gig there at the 15th of October 2000. She has got a tattoo on her left and right puls. They stand for Love and Happines. |
Angel
On the right you can see one of Mel's most famous tattoos, the Angel tatoo on her belly. This is Melanie's guiding angel.

The Phoenix
This is a phoenix rising from the ashes, on Mel's upper back between her shoulders.
That symbolizes a new beginning for Mel with her solo album and a feeling of independence. She'll always be Sporty and stick with the band, but she's now also doing something that's just about her as well - so that tattoo is special.

Lotus Flower
On the right you can see the lotus flower and the tibetan writing on Mel's lower back. The tibetan is for grounded and the lotus flower simbolizes the earth.

The Chinese Dragon and the Northern Star
The dragon is on her right calf. In the Chinese tradition the Phoenix represents the female and the Dragon represents the male - because before she was
a little out of balance.
The star is on her right hand, she got it because her first solo album is also called: "Northern star".
